All of us will get older and weaker as time goes by, there is no real life elixir in this world or the reality we live in. Time will come for all of us, slowly, but surely. I hope that didn’t sound too pessimistic or melancholy, but it is the truth.
With that said, it doesn’t mean we can’t do things to help us look better…longer.
You probably hear elderly people talking about how to look younger at 50, it could be your uncle, auntie, mom, dad, grandma or even your grandpa. Nonetheless, you heard it somewhere before, and I don’t blame them for caring about it so much, because honestly, who doesn’t care about his/her looks?
Let’s Start With Stress
Stress, stress, stress…probably one of those inevitable things in life, no matter what we do, how good and happy we are, there will be some stress involved in certain situations. That’s alright, a little stress can help us grow, but too much of it? absolutely not.
Stress can take a toll on our skin, people often have more breakouts or have more severe breakouts when they are getting stressed.
That’s normal, because stress causes the release of a hormone called cortisol in our body, and cortisol will tell our glands to produce more oil which will lead to more acne.
Stress will also make healing so much harder, if you have a skin problem or condition. You will realize that when you’re stressed, your skin problem will get aggravated easily and it will take much longer to heal. Stress makes our body more sensitive in general.
So it only makes sense that stress can affect the way our skin looks and grow, maybe a little stress won’t make us look older, but prolonged period of stressing or chronic stress as some would say will have a big impact on the way we look. There’s even a study at the university of California that proves that stress can cause premature aging.
Exercising Is Not Only For The Young
This one doesn’t come as a surprise, everyone knows that exercising is one of the major things in life, one of which we cannot skip on. There are tons of benefits that we can get from exercising if we do it regularly. There should be no excuse for this, because it needs only 10-15 minutes of your day.
Don’t just start thinking about exercising when you turn 30, 40 or 50. If you have been exercising regularly your whole life, then your aging process will most likely be slowed down as well. It has been proven that people who exercise regularly have a much much better health in their 40s and 50s, their cholesterol level are way lower than their peers who doesn’t exercise.
There are many factors associated with how we age, we start to look older when our skin starts to wrinkle and our muscle mass starts to shrink. How young our skin looks has a lot to do with the protein called myokines, they are small proteins that are produced in response to our muscle contraction, so keep exercising!
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mean getting fat, that would be absurd. I mean fat as in consume more healthy fats like omega 3. Omega 3 fatty acids found in certain foods like salmon, nuts and seeds can keep our bone strong, keep our mood stable and slow down aging by reducing inflammation on our skin.
A study about omega 3 fatty acids suggest that consumption of these fatty acids can possibly slow down the aging process because of a specific segment of DNA found in white blood cells, called telomeres.
Telomeres shortens due to aging and diseases, consumption of fatty acids has shown to lengthen it.
The Usage Of Green Tea
Japanese are well-known around the world to drink a lot of green tea, their green tea consumption is number one, and they are also ranked first for the highest life span. This is probably one of the reasons why I love Japan so much, everything is so clean and well thought, simplicity.
There’s a Chinese study that suggest that the reason green tea slows down aging is most likely due to all the antioxidants found in green tea. This is why there are so many products associated with green tea that works extremely well for tightening skin, wrinkles and other problems caused by aging.
Green tea mask is very popular in Asian based markets, drinking green tea or using anything related to green tea helps a great deal with keeping our skin healthy. Green tea is also famous for its cancer fighting ability, and all of this has to do with the antioxidants found in green tea.
The next time you visit Asia, don’t forget to get yourself well-informed about the greatness of green tea and its astonishing ways of keeping our skin healthy.
Those are some of the best ways to look younger even when you are supposed to look older. We feel better when we look better, so don’t be ashamed for wanting to look younger at a certain age, it happens to all of us.
Here are some more tips, do some meditating if you happen to find yourself stressing a lot, whether its about something crucial or something small. Meditating can help to calm us down.
If you have trouble with exercising like sports, try to do small workouts of 10-15 minutes in the morning before you start your day, never at night. In the morning you will be replenished with energy from a good night sleep, and not all exhausted as you will be at noon or at night.
Try to eat fish at least once or twice a week, and you will help slow down the aging process naturally in your body and possibly look younger than ever.
Drinking tea may not be the most delicious beverage you can drink, but it sure does have more benefits than any carbonated drinks or coffee. Try to adjust your choice of beverage, and slowly get used to the taste. Refreshing and full of antioxidants and it has zero calories.
